Behind the Budget

A Look Inside the Income and Expenses of the Zeta Zeta Alumni House Corporation

Since it has been a while since a Zephyr has been published, I thought it would be helpful to explain what goes into the budget for the House Corporation and how we work with the active chapter.

Wanted: Alumni Mentors

At some point in our lives most of us have had a mentor who stepped in and helped guide us.  This may have been an informal mentor, the uncle or aunt who helped us with our college choice. Or, it may have been someone more formally assigned to us as we began our career. For many of us, we had the great honor to have been mentored by ‘Mister D,’ Duane Doty, the long time High Pi at Zeta Zeta.

Later, we may have found ourselves in the role as mentor, guiding a mentee from the next generation in the same way we were guided.

Youth Majority Leads to Positive Change in Zeta Zeta Culture

Zeta Zeta is working on rebuilding its numbers while maintaining the high recruitment standard Lambda Chi Alpha prides itself upon. We currently have 74 actives, with a strong majority coming from the sophomore and freshman classes. The last three classes total up to 50 members, with 19 in fall 2015, nine in spring 2016, and 22 in our newest fall 2016 class. Having this youth majority within the chapter has allowed for a new and positive change in culture.

Lambda Chi Yields Top GPA and THON Fundraising Totals

The undergraduates at the Penn State chapter have been working hard to show the community what it truly means to be a member of Lambda Chi Alpha through the exemplification of our core values.

Incorporating and applying leadership in our actions and behaviors has been a prodding force since the inception of our Associate Membership.

Making the House Look Great for Fall 2017

Our chapter has encountered challenges over the past few years, but we have persevered. Most would say we have come out a much stronger brotherhood.  The increased numbers that Tommy mentions in the report above have greatly helped us meet our operating budget of close to $300,000.  The current group of brothers truly understands how important our 92-year-old house is and is doing its best to maintain and, when time and finances permit, improve our plant and equipment.
