Remediation Plan Approved: Zeta to Return to Good Standing
By Bret Morgan (Z982)
As you are likely aware, we received great news on April 22, 2017: The Grand High Zeta of Lambda Chi Alpha voted unanimously to approve the chapter’s Remediation Plan’s results and restore the active chapter to full good standing. The development of the Remediation Plan and other positive action taken by the actives and alumni would not have been possible without efforts undertaken by the chapter’s High Zeta and active brotherhood, along with a core of alumni advisors. A special thanks to alumni Tom Gasbarre (Z966), Luke Taiclet (Z920) and Ed Beard for the significant time they dedicated to the task. According to Tom, in order to ensure the Remediation Plan is completely fulfilled, we will begin working on the next steps for the 2017-2018 year, which will include items such as reporting, compliance, strategic planning, community involvement, and best practices.
Alumni Critical to Long-Term Success of Zeta Zeta
By Jeff Leo (ZZ 932)
I think Bret is on point with a number of issues. We have a great bunch of men in the house at this point. This group has been very receptive to alumni involvement and I attribute that to alumni leadership. Times have changed and the fraternity cannot exist as it did when we were students. Currently there is a huge negative public perception in State College about the Greek system due to the recent death at Beta Theta Pi.
Make Plans to Attend This Summer’s Golf Outing!

Plans are in the works for the Second Annual Charlie Zendt Memorial Golf outing on July 22. Even if you weren’t active in the late ’50s, when Charlie graduated from Penn State, you can join for a weekend of fun and brotherhood. We hope to see brothers of all eras at this year’s outing to […]
Celebrating Friendships that Last 60+ Years

Special thanks to Carl Lunde ’54, who recently submitted nearly 30 photos that capture the lifelong bonds of brotherhood. He shared photos that he took during a May 5, 2005 LXA reunion in Washington, DC for the classes of 1953, 1954, and 1955. These guys have been brothers and friends for more than 60 years! […]
Zeta Zeta to Return to Good Standing in Fall 2017!
This weekend at their meeting, The Grand High Zeta of Lambda Chi Alpha voted unanimously to approve the chapter Remediation Plan’s results and restore the active chapter to full good standing in the fall semester.
PSU Rolls Out Major Greek Community Changes; Will They Hold?

The current state of the Penn State Greek community is one that is currently going through a major change. With the tragic incident at the Beta Theta Pi house involving the death of Timothy Piazza, new sanctions and rules have been implemented from the University to make the Greek community a safer place. With these sanctions come changes that our Zeta Zeta need to make as well.
What Are Penn State’s Newly Enacted Greek Restrictions?
Penn State released a new set of restrictions on Greek life late last month after further investigating incidents at Beta Theta Pi. One of the restrictions postpones recruitment until Spring 2018, and another limits social events to 10 social events with alcohol per semester (a reduction from the current limit of 45). Beta Theta Pi […]
Lambda Chi Raises $1.2 Million for THON in 4 Years, Makes an Impact through Service Activities

Zeta Zeta takes pride in our philanthropic and community service efforts as an embodiment of the core value of Service and Stewardship. As a part of the university community, the brotherhood is heavily involved in the Penn State Dance Marathon (THON) in support of the Four Diamonds Foundation. Each year, in partnership with the Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority, we have consistently been ranked amongst the top five for largest financial donations raised in result to our myriad of fundraisers implemented throughout the year. This year we raised $222,557.60 placing us as first runners up among Greek Associations and all other organizations; in the past four years we’ve donated over $1.2 million toward the cause.
LXA Uniquely Positioned to Lead Penn State’s Greek System

The recent news from State College regarding IFC and the Greek system has not been positive. February’s tragic death of pledge Tim Piazza at Beta Theta Pi fraternity led to the University announcing a sweeping series of Greek Life regulations and restrictions. One of the mandates was “an immediate cessation of new member programs now underway in IFC chapters.” The University mandated each fraternity submit their “new member program” for review and stated no programs would be reinstated until “effective and credible plans” were “put in place to end hazing.”
Risk Management: How Likely Is It that Something Bad Will Occur?

Risk Management and Harm Reduction are extremely important topics with today’s Greek community, and Zeta Zeta is no exception. Given the recent fatality of a pledge at Beta Theta Pi, we must do everything in our power to conduct ourselves in a safe and responsible manner.
For those unfamiliar with the terms, risk is probability X consequence. How likely is it that something bad will occur, and if it does, how bad will it be?
