Lambda Chi Alpha Zeta Zeta has been a participant in Penn State’s IFC/Panhanelic Dance Marathon since THON’s inception in 1973. Currently, LXA is partnered with Alpha Sigma Alpha in order to aid in fundraising efforts for pediatric cancer research and pediatric cancer patients/families.
David Gerhart is currently the THON chair for LXA and is focused in raising corporate donations for Lambda’s 2018 fundraising efforts. In years past, David has been an avid participant in numerous THON committees. His passion for the Four Diamonds Foundation and for Lambda’s THON efforts continue to prove his dedication to this amazing cause!
Our goal this year is to maintain our high performance in the neighborhood of $220,000.
This is proving challenging as the university has interfered with recruitment, putting us at a manpower disadvantage. A large group of fall associate members have always been a strong help for our effort, and new excited associates eager to help and contribute to such a great cause will be missed.
This year, we will not be able to recruit freshman until next semester, so we only have their help for a couple months at best. Our partner Alpha Sigma Alpha also could not recruit freshman this fall, resulting in a net loss of 100+ volunteers for the bulk of the fundraising season. The university has also limited the most lucrative means of fundraising, which are canning trips, which typically generate over $10,000 per trip.
Despite these obstacles, we are pressing on, trying to keep stride with the incredible impact we’ve made thus far!
Can you support our efforts and help us overcome this year’s obstacles? Whether THON was one of your favorite philanthropic endeavors as an undergrad, or if you just admire the hard work that goes into this life-changing event each year, show yoru support for Lambda Chi Alpha Zeta Zeta, with a donation.
