Thanks to the efforts of Brother Joe Wertz (Z880) and others a group of Philadelphia area ( and even some State College ) Brothers and friends have met almost monthly for lunch to share fellowship and good times. I have greatly enjoyed these lunches with lifelong friends sharing a meal, getting to know some guys before my time (I’m usually the youngest guy there), swapping stories and generally remaining in each others lives, celebrating milestones and life events. We also had a great group at a Phillies game organized by Kevin Gallagher (Z908) last summer and I hope that becomes an annual event. I think this can be replicated in the other areas with a decent Alumni population. So I reviewed the data from our Alumni Support vendor Elevate and would like to encourage others to take the lead like Joe did and get something on the calendar with fellow Lambda’s that you may not realize live near you!
For example, Yinz that live in Zips 150-153, there are 69 Brothers. 42 Lambda’s live in 070-079. There are 79 Brothers in the Lancaster/Harrisburg area. I challenge someone in these areas to step in and try to get a group going, just like Joe did. And there is still room for the Philly group to grow. Please reach out if you want to champion your area and try to get something going.
If you had a positive experience as an Undergrad, I can assure you of a positive experience reconnecting and meeting fellow Lambda’s as an Alum.
