The undergraduates at the Penn State chapter have been working hard to show the community what it truly means to be a member of Lambda Chi Alpha through the exemplification of our core values.
Incorporating and applying leadership in our actions and behaviors has been a prodding force since the inception of our Associate Membership.
Our value in personal and academic integrity has guided us to our highest cumulative brotherhood GPA this past semester, making us amongst the top fraternities for excellence in academics. This past December, we brought 22 Associate Members into the bond during Initiation ceremony, repledging our oath as a brotherhood to the Fraternity. A moving experience for the new and old brothers along with the numerous alumni who attended.
As a chapter we hold all core values with reverence, but one in particular is in our strongest pursuits. Service and Stewardship, integrated with all other values is elucidated through our Philanthropic efforts. The Penn State Dance Marathon (THON) is a large contributor of brotherhood involvement and passion. Each year, Lambda Chi Alpha partners with the Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for pediatric cancer to support our Four Diamonds family in need. We are very proud to say we raise the second most money for thon amongst all Greek Life at Penn State for the cause every year. Something more specific and dear to Lambda Chi’s, rather than just students at Penn State, is our relation with Feeding America. Through our efforts earlier in the year, we were able to collect 168 pounds of canned food during our drive. With dedication to fundraising we were also able to raise $4,830 equivalent to 43,470 meals for Feeding America this past Holiday Season. We also executed a community clean-up for the streets and residential houses in downtown State College and have started a Good-Deeds initiative where brothers report what they do out of kindness and generosity within the community and brotherhood.
With a strong sense of stewardship, we uphold our values and teachings not only among ourselves, but also with our alumni. We are excited to kindle relationships with whom we already have strong connections, even to prior to meeting. We as a chapter want to get to know our alumni more than we already do, to share the values we all live and to build relationships with those in which we want to have bonds. We are planning to have numerous formal alumni events and we sincerely hope you can attend them and visit us. The next event coming up is the Blue-and-White Weekend Reception. There will be food and refreshments after the game at the chapter house. Please accept our invitation to come out and meet us during Blue-White Weekend on April 22, we are expecting a big turnout and are excited to welcome you all back!
