STATUS OF GREEK LIFE AT PENN STATE

The following assessment was developed from on-line sources and input from, and interviews with, individuals closely involved with Greek life at Penn State.

There are 43 fraternities (3 Co-ed), with 36 in the Inter-Fraternity Council and 27 sororities consisting of 12% of the undergraduate student body. OFSL has implemented many new programs including mandatory pre- and post- recruitment training in alcohol abuse, hazing, sexual assault, bystander intervention, mental health and good citizenship. OFSL conducts mandatory new member (i.e., pledge) program reviews with 68 evaluated in fall 2018. Optional training, open to the public, is also offered. OFSL will sponsor a four-hour workshop on April 28 for Alumni House Corporation members and advisors.

ANNUAL FUND UPDATE – A CALL TO ACTION

Help Us Make the 2018-19 Giving Year Strong!

Our 2018-19 giving year, which began on September 1, 2018 is half over with $5,200 collected from 48 brothers. We want to thank those 48 brothers (you can find them under the Honor Roll tab on our website) who have already made a contribution to Zeta so far this giving year!

Our 2018-19 giving year goal was for $10,000. Last year only 86 out of 1,232 alumni chose to make a voluntary gift. We have not met our goal — we still need your help. Who will be next brother to join our 2018-19 Honor Roll?

Zeta – A Bond Unbroken

Thoughts on Why We Give

“When I meet a brother, unseen or without contact over many years, the connection is still felt.”

Have you ever asked yourself why you give-if you give, that is? If the statisticians are right, only one brother in ten is likely to give back regularly once they put on their cap and gown.

There are lots of good reasons to give, of course. Do you believe in affording the next generation of young men the same experience you had with Zeta? Maybe something good happened to you just by being together in that house, sharing those experiences that helped make you who you are now.

4th Annual Charlie Zendt Memorial Golf Outing

Brothers and Friends,

The 4th Annual Charlie Zendt Memorial Golf Outing will take place on Saturday, July 20 at the Mountain View Country Club.  Tee time is 1:30.  As usual, golf will be followed by dinner at the chapter house.

And, by popular request, this year we will have an activity for the non-golfers!  A wine tour of Mt. Nittany Valley Winery.

Onward and Upward

Remember your spring graduation?

With the return of spring also comes that rite of passage, graduation. We’ve all been there. It’s a time for looking forward, but also a time for looking back over our life-changing college years and the many influences that shaped us, including our fraternity experience.

Do You Remember Zeta March Madness?

Share your favorite story with us!

We all love to reminisce. It’s great fun to remember all the memorable (and often hilarious) times we had together as brothers. Many of your fondest memories of college, may be related to your participation in sporting events with your Zeta brothers. March Madness is an event that has often united brothers in following the contest to see who was college basketball’s best team. If it was the home team, we were off the charts in rallying our support and if we didn’t have a team in the hunt, we still enjoyed the games (pizza and the occasional beverage.)

So what are your special March Madness memories?
