Some of you may be aware that the Penn State Office of Student Affairs recently conducted a review of Lambda Chi Alpha relating to past operations that did not fully align with university expectations and fraternity standards. I am happy to share the positive outcome and wanted to provide some context directly to our alumni, along with an invitation to join us for a celebration at the Chapter House on October 24, 2026.
The subject of Penn State’s review related to allegations from Spring 2025 that were referred by the former Alumni Board to Lambda Chi Alpha headquarters at that time and were fully reviewed and resolved by the General Fraternity. While the General Fraternity found the allegations to be unsubstantiated, it did recognize that there was a lack of operational control, including a substandard fraternity education program and poor ritual practices. As a result, in August 2025 a membership review was conducted and an alumni control board was installed to help get the Chapter back on track. I am happy to share that those efforts have proven extremely successful.
Penn State was not involved in the General Fraternity’s review process but became aware of the Spring 2025 allegations in January 2026 and initiated its own review of the Chapter. Penn State has now resolved the matter, recognizing that the Chapter, its alumni, and the General Fraternity had already taken substantial corrective actions, including a membership review, extensive retraining and education initiatives focused on chapter culture and accountability, and the development of a strong new chapter culture moving forward.
We are very pleased to finally have this matter behind us so we can focus on improving alumni communication and engagement and, most importantly, continuing our core mission of maintaining the Chapter House as a home for the undergraduate Chapter.
A tremendous amount of credit is owed to Ken Termini for helping navigate this long and difficult process, as well as the alumni volunteers and General Fraternity leadership who worked tirelessly to rebuild the Chapter.
I am especially proud of our undergraduate brothers, who persevered through every challenge and continued working to strengthen the Chapter. Thanks to these young men, our Chapter House will be fully occupied this Fall as we celebrate 100 years at 351 East Fairmount Avenue.
As we begin this next chapter, I also want to express my appreciation to the many generations of alumni who have helped ensure the continuity and success of Zeta Zeta over the years. We are excited to welcome alumni back to the house on October 24th as we celebrate this incredible milestone together alongside our undergraduate brothers.
Please mark your calendars for October 24, 2026 and be on the lookout for more details to come.
Yours in ZAX,
Nate Boring ’11, Alumni Association Board President
