Making the House Look Great for Fall 2017

Our chapter has encountered challenges over the past few years, but we have persevered. Most would say we have come out a much stronger brotherhood.  The increased numbers that Tommy mentions in the report above have greatly helped us meet our operating budget of close to $300,000.  The current group of brothers truly understands how important our 92-year-old house is and is doing its best to maintain and, when time and finances permit, improve our plant and equipment.

Our newly installed High Zeta and a dedicated group of alumni are diligently formulating a plan to make the house look great for fall 2017.  We have prioritized the following needs:

  • Couches for the living room
  • Tables and chairs for the dining room
  • Replacing our aged washer & dryer
  • Pool sticks and re-felting the pool table

We have some other repairs that the actives will work on this spring (e.g. painting and caulking all the windows) but some things are beyond our skillset (e.g. ceiling and floor repairs).  Getting these things done will certainly help us continue on our positive trajectory and be greatly appreciated by all the actives!

“I had an opportunity to visit with the actives back in November and am very encouraged with the strides they are making. We have not made an appeal for any money in five years. If there is anything you can do via cash contribution or even a connection in the furniture or hotel business, it would certainly help us to get the House ready to become one of the best at Penn State. Hope you can help, and hope to see you at an event at the House next fall!”
