8th Annual Charlie Zendt Memorial Golf Outing was a Success

July 22 was a beautiful day in Happy Valley! The sky was blue and white with temps in the high 70s. It was a perfect day for the 8th Annual Charlie Zendt Memorial Golf Outing.

The event, named after our brother Charlie Zendt, who served on the house corporation board for 30+ years, brought brothers, spouses, and friends together for a weekend of socializing, golf, dinner, catching up and reminiscing. We were honored by being joined for the group picture by Charlie’s family. His sister Sandra, daughters Erica and Adrienne, and son Charles. As we have been doing in past years, we are making a $500 donation to Habitat for Humanity of Center County in Charlie’s name. The charity was chosen by Charlie’s family.

We had 18 golfers this year and played at the Mountain View Country Club where we have held the event each year. Golf was followed by a cocktail hour and dinner at the chapter house. Being such a pleasant day, we were able to hold the dinner outdoors on the front patio. The winning foursome this year consisted of Ed Sager, Maddie Sager, Steve Young, and Kevin Riordon. Longest Drive winner was Jeff Leo and Closest to the Pin was Chris Berret. For those who don’t golf, we had a tour of Penns Cave followed by a stop at the new Boal City Brewery in Boalsburg.

A big thank you to Tod Miller, Brian Helgesen, and Jeff Leo who helped make this event a success. Also, a thank you to those who participated in the work weekend and other days prior to the event who made the property look terrific: Ed Beard, Randy Rossi, Todd Miller, Jeff Leo, Dave Hutzayluk, and Greg Linde.

Mark your calendar now for next year. The 9th annual outing will be held on Saturday, July 20.
