Richard I. Wade, age 79, of Landenberg, PA, passed away peacefully at home, with his family by his side, on May 14th due to complications of CBGD dementia. He was born in Washington DC, son of the late Richard and Helen (Fox) Wade. He was a graduate of Penn State University and enjoyed a long career as a certified public accountant, initially working for several local firms before ultimately going into practice for himself. It was at Penn State that he met the love of his life, Margie Heinz. They were married in 1967 and immediately started a family. In 1968 their only daughter was born, Ali, and in 1969 their first son was born, Andrew, followed by their second son, Josh, in 1971. Residing first in Newark, DE then Pike Creek, DE before eventually moving to an old farmhouse in Avondale, PA. Rich, Margie and their family took great pride in restoring the farmhouse and surrounding property, and enjoyed the tranquility of country living. In 1998, after becoming empty nesters, Rich and Margie moved out to Landenberg, Pa. An extroverted individual, Rich enjoyed socializing with colleagues and friends alike. A generous man, passionate about helping others, he contributed in various ways to many charities both with his resources and his time. He was a die-hard Steelers and Penn State football fan, enjoyed coin collecting, clay-sport shooting, bee-keeping and golfing. Above all else, he cherished the time he spent with his family. Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Margie; his children, Ali Wade (Max), Andrew Wade (Angela), and Josh Wade (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Andrew, Jonathan, Emily, Ella, and Avery; his siblings, Carolyn Simpson (JC), Alice Wade (Jon, deceased), Cecilia Puglisi (Dennis), Steven Wade (Mary), and David Wade; his sister-in-law, Julia Wade; and several nieces, nephews, and members of his extended family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Wade. The Wade Family would like to extend their appreciation to family and friends for their support; to Richard’s personal care providers, Felicia and Nilda; and to the nurses and aides at Willow Tree Hospice for their care and compassion. Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, on Friday, May 21, 2021, from 10am–12pm . A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:30pm at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE 19707. Interment will be held privately with his family in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD. Ronald V. Caporali Sr. Ph.D., 84, of West Sunbury passed away Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.
He was born June 22, 1936, in New Kensington, and was the son of the late Gustave and Letitia Succo Caporali.
After graduating from Arnold High School in 1954, he attended Penn State, earning a B.S. degree in mineral industries, later returning in 1962, where he earned his master’s degree in 1964, and later his Ph.D. in ceramic science in 1969. This was accomplished all while being employed as an assistant in the ceramic science department and starting his family.
Dr. Caporali served as a consultant to the glass industry, traveling to many different states and countries, giving his expert advice to industry professionals, while making many friends along the way.
Known as a professional to most, he was better known as “Papa” to his family. He was a worldly man with many interests that ranged from traveling, scuba diving, astronomy, bird watching, yard work, football and much more.
He was always encouraging those he loved to look for the opportunity to learn and explore the world around them. From traveling the world, to tea parties with his great-grandchildren, he cherished every moment with the ones he loved. He loved his family dearly, always looking forward to making new memories or was just as happy sitting and reminiscing.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 64 years, Carol (Wagner); three daughters, Leslie (Tom) Gorham of West Sunbury, Carrie Powell of Sunbury, Ohio, and Amy (Bill) Dellich of West Sunbury; and one son, Ronald V. Caporali Jr. (Cheryl) of West Sunbury.
Also surviving are six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brother, Carl of New Kensington; his sister, Sylvia Radovich of Penn Hills; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Billy Dellich; and numerous relatives.
CAPORALI – Per his request, there will be no public viewing for Ronald V. Caporali Sr., Ph.D., who died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
